Breaking Old Cycles Is Its Own Kind of Gratitude
As we head into this season a season reflection, I want to name something that often goes unseen. When you choose to parent differently than you were parented… that is gratitude in action. Every time you respond with a little more patience, a little more openness, or a little more self-awareness, a little more levity & trust you are honoring your child and yourself.
There is also gratitude in recognizing what you did receive. If there are moments or lessons from your own upbringing that shaped you in a loving way, it is a gift to notice them. When you choose to carry those parts forward, you are passing along something grounded and beautiful. That is gratitude too.
It may all feel quiet, but it is transformative. It is a steady form of rebellion and a deeply meaningful act of love. It is something to feel proud of, and something to be grateful for.
Keep going and keep being gentle with yourself. You are creating the kind of relationship your child will forever feel.
And while I have your attention I would like to thank you for taking the time to read these newsletters, sending me referrals, trusting me with your hearts, tears and difficult truths.
I am grateful for YOU.
Hoping your time is gentle, meaningful, and full of heart.
